My little Suzuki is doing okay, even on mud and icy snow. I try to remember to stay paved roads, but do forget. I am getting over 34 mpg on the highway and over 30 in towns. I should know better, but had it up over 120 mph and believe I could have gone much faster if I hadn't regained my senses.
I find the more interested I am, the happier I am. Of course others find an interested person more interesting.
I guess I've already said plenty about the foxes interest in my interest in mictation. Maybe not. Stopped far enough off the road to urinate. As I got out of the Suzuki I spotted two fox by a little draw at the edge of the leveled area, and they spotted me.
I talk to them for a while. They didn't say anything, but they appeared interested. They had not been far from me and they started to move closer. Of course i wasn't afraid of a couple of little fox. I told them that I didn't have any food. They walked back to the other side of the little draw, laid down, and watched me. I walked of a respectable distance to urinate and was surprised to stir-up an number of dove. After completing my task I looked around to see the fox watching me from quite close. I moved slowly toward them and they moved back toward the draw where it seemed they had a den. As I got close, a third fox came out and I am pretty sure one of them did a somersault. They were handsome looking creatures and it was all very interesting, but I began to imagine a fox on one of my ankles and another on the other as the third took aim at a place between my ankles, but higher up. I walked back to the Suzuki.
The fox looked much like the one at Camp T Bird. They may have been a bit bigger and have smaller ears. One of them had a light gold shade to her coat which is unlike the greys of those at Camp T Bird.
I am driving parallel to a part of the Sierra that has a pretty good snow pack. I'm experiencing some light rain and there seems to me some snow reaching the mountains.
"As I See It Today" could be the title of this new iteration of my main blog. The "It" would then be the following themes with which I intend to deal here: ~ history ~ politics, economics, government ~ family tree ~ people, places, ~ culture, society ~ dialogue and a bit of me

Driving Trip
Made it to Las Vegas and on to Reno.
The air was bad past Las Vegas about as far as Beatty. It was smoggy all the way. I was saddened to see so much of the atmosphere of the Mojave degraded. Taking this trip has lead me to more fully realize that I live on an 'island' of pretty good air surrounded by more than 100 mile radius of smog. I think that the only exceptions to that great sea of smog, besides my little 'home island' are some high mountain communities. Beatty must be nearly 100 miles north of Vegas and it wasn't until I reached Beatty that I began to note clear air.
I think that I have already posted that I paid about $100 for a room in Tonopah. I didn't need to pay that price, but I a place like Tonopah its sometimes a good idea to choose the best place in town. It is fairly easy along this route to find quite comfortable places to sleep for less than fifty or sixty dollars a night. I spotted some nice casino rooms offered for $29.
Being in the Tonopah area kindled enough memories to fill two posts twice as interesting as this one. Maybe I'll tell one or two of those stories later.
It is great to be in a region of pure air and beautiful skies again. It's great to see the mountains, plains and hills in clear definition. The shapely clouds in a deep blue sky are marvelous.

Fear, But
I had a couple of little series of episodes related to my circulatory system and my brain.
One series occurred in Montevideo and the other in Cuenca, Ecuador. I haven't been away from the house overnight since that Uruguay/Ecuador trip.
I plan to take a little trip now.
As I wrote the above I heard the voice of the radio announcer say, "... a blood clot reached his lung and he subsequently died in the hospital ..." A scar shows up on x-rays of my lungs as a result of a similar experience. I didn't die, but that's a different episode.
The trip I plan will be taking a drive in my little Suzuki. From JT I'll head toward Las Vegas, Nevada and then on toward Reno. I may find a place to get into hot water between Vegas and Reno. From Reno I'll probably cross the Sierra to Sacramento, California. From Sacramento I may take a look around the UC campus at Davis and then head back to Joshua Tree from there.
My plans and trips tend to change along the way. Any 'episodes' and I may check into the nearest hospital. Wrong; there are a wide variety of episodes available. I can imagine one in which a lovely lady takes me by the hand and leads us to a a great hot water spa not far from the Danube.
I'll probably leave my passport at home, but I do plan to take a cell phone with me. It's not my first, but I'm so inexperienced that it might as well be. Just bought it today. They said it was simple, but I haven't found the training wheels yet. My # on the instrument is 760-401-3758. Feel free to call. That is you can give it a try; I promise no results.
The day after tomorrow is a Sunday, but I might begin the great overnight adventure then anyway.
