I just finished listening to another good audio novel. It is the only work by Lisa See that I am acquainted with. The 13 cds are well recorded by the reader Janet Song. The novel will improve your understanding of the PRC of the 1950s including the New Society movement. It may also help you to understand the Chinese immigrant experience. If you are a woman you are likely to cry with a joy of recognition. I shed a couple of tears myself. It is also a bit of a coming of age story for a young woman.

I Ain't Dead Yet
I Just finished a ten cd audio novel. It was so good that I'd like to recommend it to you. It's been out for long enough for it to have been enjoyed by many. Many find it commendable. Because I am is probably the reason that I find the ending particularly touching.
Sara Gruen wrote it. I will look for other works by her now. Her other works are around and read.
The novel is Water for Elephants. It is a fine story finely structured. You'll like the heroes and perhaps hate a villain or two.
You may enjoy the circus history. It's easy to be drawn into this inside view of the circus. It's almost like running away to the circus yourself.

"Thirteen Moons"
Just finished listening to a fine audio story. It's a novel by Charles Frazier which is read aloud on 13 compact discs by Will Patton. Mr.Patton reads it well. Seems he likes the story. The novel is called Thirteen Moons. I'm not sure why, but it's fitting enough.
On the back of the cd container it's called a work of 'general fiction.' It's not historical fiction, not even social fiction. It might be a book of manners of certain people of the Appalachian South from the time of Jackson, Huston, Crockett,but it doesn't have much to say about those three. It does consider the Cherokee people.
It's a very American story which I deeply enjoyed being reminded of. I recommend it.
