Affirmations

Community Having

Community building is an ongoing activity. Community sustaining and community having are similar activities.

However, much of community is a lot of talk. Talk initiates community and sustains it.

Community is sustained and nurtured by talking about activities such as ethics, values, energy, rights, dialogue, assumptions, community, needs, wants, desires, goals, and all that is most important in the minds of the participants.

Productive talk is a skill we all learn.

A Citizen of the Republic

As a citizen of the republic I find myself unsure of the usual methods of effecting policy makers and planners. I find I don't have a practical way of knowing the standards of 'my representatives,' much less effecting them.

For example how can I keep informed what elected representatives are doing at the Federal level to promote scientific research appropriate to my health.

I feel ignorant and ineffectual. Is the tide so  against the existence of a democratic republic so that it is  best to forget the dream of having a functional republic and to go with the oligarchic flow?
