So far, police and army brutality has not gone beyond the usual. That's a plus. But it is a country wide strike of persons in varied sectors of the economy with little communication or considered cooperation yet.
The strikers all have very good reasons and call to strike. Among the various major causes for the strike is the way small set of oligarchic power wielders in Colombia relate to and collude with a set powerful among US power wielder's.
That is US citizens may see the strike as an example of their tax dollars at work.

WikiLeaks Manifesto
Aim Number Two
The second aim seems to have three parts.
Part one is to vindicate the sources of WikiLeaks by defending through speech the good name of anyone alleged to have risked life and comfort to inform the public.
An informed public is vital to our well-being as citizens of a republic. I am glad that there are those willing to risk comfort and life ti inform me and my fellow citizens. I do hesitate to defend everyone who breaks our law, or worse, their word, in order to inform me. So far Bradley seems to be one to be defended.
Part two is keeping WikiLeaks strong so that it is able to defend its sources.
Defening its sources is the job of every institution. Journalism seems our main source for information on the doings of our politicians and bureaucrats. I have not decided how much I am willing to do to support this cause of WikiLeaks. I do believe that WikiLeaks has a legal and moral right to defend its sources.
Part three is ensuring through advocacy that the information that they seek dies not fall on deaf ears.
Advocacy is an every-day legal and honorable activity. Honestly informing listeners of that which is vital ti their well-being is fair and honorable. I support efforts to deliver information to our citizens which helps them to develop and exercise their citizenship in the name of democracy and our republic.

As Citizens .......
Most of us are concerned about the killing we do and pay for. We know that the killing we do causes suffering, fear, strife, confusion, and death. We see that our killing costs us blood and dollars.
It seems to me worth while to come to a better agreement about when, where, and under what circumstances we shall kill. It seems good that we have a killing policy that is more generally understood. Shouldn't we agree that our killing policy be subsumed under our war policy and perhaps our foreign policy? Can we agree on what our war policy is to be? Can we agree on what we want our national foreign policy to be? Are we capable of the necessary dialogue?
How many have already given up our law and our responsibility.?

Defining "Politics"
It seems that in the 7th century BC Zaleucus, writer of the Locrian Code, thought that the purpose of politics was to reconcile societal fractions and to uphold equality before the law Sounds like good politics to me today
Men, know to us, have been defining 'politics' for about 5000 years. It seems that for most of that time it has been about citizens. Politics, these days in a republic, is that which citizens do as citizens. Its how people make collective decisions. It is a learned art and skill. We taught our children a bit about it at home and in their civics classes at school. In a republic politics are the affairs of citizens.
To be a citizen one need be the citizen of something. These days the thing (or process) is often called the state.
Politics may be called the art of civil administration. It is the way we do governance. That is, politics is the act of people practicing governance. It is the duty and honor of American citizens to understand and participate in the governance of Country, State, County, City, etc. Its the way we decide who gets the gold and who goes to jail.
Other political duties of citizens of the republic are to oppose corruption, and to support equality before the law, freedom of religion, and freedom of speech. It used to be important to be civil too.
The skills and art of politics may be practiced where-ever resources are used or cooperation is desired: church and corporation are institutions that come to mind.: school, sports, and marriage are others.
A principle constituent of the art of politics are the skills of that purposeful, cooperative talk often called dialogue.
Some young neighbors of mine call it a fair-fighting way of getting what you want.

Parents are Citizens
Parents and citizens of our republic are the ones who are responsible for education in our republic. Parents and citizens need to dialogue to decide what eduction is to be like with us. Then parents and citizens most organize to decide how we will deliver that education. Professionals take their orders from us.
