Tell Us* About the White House

Here a some data about the White House I can offer today:

The White House was called the President's House until the Civil War(1861-'65) when the name Executive Mansion came into use. Theodore Roosevelt titled it White House by executive order.

From Wikipedia I am reminded that the cornerstone of the White House Was laid on the 12th of October of 1792, the 300th anniversary of Columbus' discovery of the Western Hemisphere. It wasn't occupied by a President until November of 1800. That November of 1800 President John Adams(1797-1801)and his wife Abigail moved into the unfinished President's House.

The White House has been enlarged, updated, modernized, strengthened, and more. President Truman had major had major repairs and refurbishing done.

Tell us a bit a bit about the home we provide our President.
