Talk About Floods

How likely is it that the Deucalion flood in Thessaly occurred between 1529 BC and 1433 BC? Doesn't seem to be early enough to have been ' the Biblical flood,' does it?

There have been great floods of various kinds. They have come from the sea, from rivers, some have welled up from the earth, and some have come from the sky. The one that submerged the ancient town of Ys in 440 AD could rightly called a big flood. However, the ones that put the fear of God into men don't come along very often. They often d not occurred from one century to the next. Still, they do come along.

Please tell us of  notable flood you have experienced or have heard of. Click on "comment' below or send an email.

Deucalion may not have originated in ancient Greece, but Greeks knew him as we know Noah. Thessaly is a region of east central Greece between the Pindus mountains and the Aegean Sea.
Deucalion was said to be a son of Prometheus. It was said that he, along with his red-headed wife Pyrrha, survived a deluge sent by Zeus and became the ancestor of the renewed human race. Deluge is  way we describe a big one.

Deucalion was known by name in ancient Ireland.

"Mon due!" Is the 'deu' in Deucalion  reference to God. Due and Zeu have been names for Dios, God.

Thank God that we learned some of the laws of flotation.
