Manitoulin Island

I wish that someone who knew a lot about Manitoulin Island on Lake Huron would go there with me. It seems not only a lovely place, but also an excellent place to start learning some interesting 'new' Amerindian culture and history. Manitoulin seems an great present day, real life location to start learning about the peoples related to the Great Lakes and greater Mississippi Valley trading system and some high points of its very long existence!

I'd bet a small amount that there are Indian Peoples who still hold sacred ceremonies there.

Upon doing a bit of reading I find that someone believes that Indians may still make up 40% of the population in the area. I find that someone, besides myself, believes that many Indians consider the Island sacred and that some ancient teachings are carried on there.
