Lizard Tails: An Old Palm Springs Story

An Elderly Bostonian lady whose family dated back to the watch fires on Beacon Hill was traveling in the West. The further she got from Boston the more conscious she became of here traditions. At a Palm Springs formal tea on the Inns veranda,  one day wearying of the less aesthetic conversation of the others, she turned to  a "Village Wife" on here left.
"You know my dear" she said crisply, "in Boston we place all our emphasis on breeding."
Stung, but too smart to show it, our Western Lady said as she smiled sweetly, "Well out here we think it is a lot of fun," she murmured, "but we do manage to keep up a few outside interests."
